I've read a post by someone from Italy on AR15.COM that he bought Chinese made A2 spec AR15s.

Quality of the Type CQs was supposed to be abysmal when they first started turning up in the wrong hands back in the 1980s.  Wonder if they've done anything to improve them?

I expect they are doing beter now, Norinco has improved its quality in leaps and bounds in the last few years.

Their M14's are built on American mil-spec machinary, and for a fraction of the price you will get one from Springfield for.

I agree. Norinco produces some top quality stuff nowdays...any idea if you can get a Norinco M-14 shipped to the US to an FFL? I have always wanted an M14, but my 16 year old budget (with gas prices especially) have left me unable to buy a springfield.

There are still some Norinco M14s circuilating in US firearms market. New ones can be bought in Canada (what an irony). Last time I check US firearms regulations shows that one needs to be over 21yo to be eligible to purchase firearms. You still have 5 years to save money. Save up to USD 500/year should be more than enough. If you can save that much, you can even buy yourself a Leupold scope.

Due to the import restriction, I don't think you'll find a Norinco M14 in the US for any significant savings over a Springfield (might get lucky, though) -- barring some change in the import ban, but I don't think that's likely given the new lineup in Congress.  Save your money up and go with a Fulton Armory M14 -- muy grande sweet, pricey but very nice.
