| These brutes are usually fired from a breach-loading tube that is big enough it must be towed. If not towed, they are fired from self-propelled tracked or wheeled vehicles.
There are literally thousands of these shells scattered around Iraq. Most likely mortars shells of this size have not been used in the recent attacks in Iraq as they do need a large tube and that tube would be rather conspicuous. However, taking the explosive material out and converting it into an improvised explosive device is another matter.
