Republican nominee Senator John McCain handily defeats Democrat nominee Senator Barack Obama in the 2008 Presidential Election.
Senator McCain defeats Senator Obama in the popular vote by a margin of 53 to 55% for McCain versus 45 to 47% for Obama. In the Electoral College, McCain obtains 295 Electoral College votes (plus or minus 5%) to Obama''s 245 (again, plus or minus 5%).

In my view, two equally liberal to moderate Republicans on the same ticket could push many conservatives over the edge of no return. Personally, I have decided to vote for McCain in the fall election primarily due to the probable upcoming vacancies in the Supreme Court and his pro-military stance (I have three sons in the US Army). Three more "Ruths" appointed by a President Obama would set this country back decades....that thought alone helped me decide to support McCain. Sen. Graham is likable enough, but just not the balance needed to offset McCain's liberal tendencies (McCain-Feingold, immigration, tax policy) and more importantly....to keep the conservative base interested.

Obama could be a McGovern / Ducacus type candidate.
