Today, the American armed forces has invaded the country of Iraq in the Middle East, about a 100 years ago, it has invaded a country in South East asia, the Philippines. There are many differences about the reasons, situations, etc. then and now. But there are similarities on what is happening on the ground as well.
Some facts about the Philippine American war are;
1.Started in 1898 up to 1903 when major hostilities were declared over..but still more bloodshed.
2.up to 120,000 US troops went to the Philippines to fight.
3.The US ended up staying in the islands for about 50 years.
4.Conventional warfare was won by US but were bogged down during the guerrilla war which followed.
5.Massacres, tortures and hamletting committed by Americans.
6.Local tribes used by US to fight other ethnic rebel groups.
7.Around 5,000 US troops died in combat.
8.Around 16,000 Philippine troops died in combat.
9.Around 200,000 people died from massacres,disease and starvation.
10.America built schools, hospitals, roads and major infrastructures.
