In the U.S. Navy, college students have learned that, if they want to be a naval aviator, the selection process looks for high grades, no matter what the major. So an aspiring fighter pilot goes for an easier field of study (like English or History), rather than one that might help his flying career (like engineering), but would not yield the same high grades for the same effort.
