Woomera Bars Chinese Miners

October 16, 2009: Australia's Defense Department is trying to block Chinese participation in a mining operation within the Woomera missile range. It was feared that the Chinese presence would lead to spying on the many military activities that take place within the Woomera facility. Actually, the Woomera operation is a group of different missile and aircraft test ranges, taking up 127,000 square kilometers (the size of England). Many of these ranges are wired, or covered with sensors, to record weapons performance. This is the second time this year that the Australian government has blocked an attempt by a Chinese government operate in or near Woomera (where some mining is allowed.) Officially, the reason given was that it was too dangerous to operate in the areas the Chinese wanted to work.

Chinese miners also mean territorial occupation besides spying.

Yes, you are very correct, what a lot of people don't realise is that China has transplanted 100,000's of Chinese civilians in to African and Middle Eastern countries they buy raw materials from, they basically all work in the chinese owned and run mining and oil companies, also the traditional hard working and business savvy chinese merchants have set up their own shops in these areas, much to the chargin of the less capable local shopkeeper's.
It is going to be very interesting in the future is how these African/M.E. countries persuade China to take their citizens back home to China?
The "Middle Kingdom" had a highly advance civilization when our ansestors were living in caves and covering themselves in blue woad, they have learnt to plan hundred's of years ahead, we have only learnt to plan ten's of years a head.
We certainly live in interesting times.

The Chinese merchants aren't any better than the local ones, they get starter money from the state owned companies to set up shop.  They also get their goods (from China) at or below costs.  It isn't hard to beat the locals on those terms.

As far as getting rid of them, I'd say "go to jail or go home".  The right of a sovereign nation to decide who stays and who goes.
