Thailand has revived plans to refit and upgrade some of its 58 F-5 fighters. The original program was canceled three years ago due to the Asian economic crisis. Under the new plan, 20 fighters will be fitted with a new fire control radar and head up display. --Stephen V Cole

The Swedish Air Force has converted a third squadron to the JAS39 Gripen (Gryphon) fighter. The 7th Wing converted its two squadrons in Oct 97 and Oct 98; the third squadron to get the Gryphon is part of the 10th Wing.--Stephen V Cole
