The US Army is seeking a new aerial rocket to provide a low-cost punch for helicopters. This will be created by fitting a laser seeker on the body of a Hydra-70 (2.75-inch free flight aerial rocket), producing a weapon which has the 6km range of the Hydra-70 but the accuracy of Hellfire. The weapon would work with existing laser designators, and would allow a given helicopter to carry dozens of anti-tank weapons instead of the current load of heavier Hellfires. --Stephen V Cole
