Warlord: No Better Friend, No Worse Enemy, by Ilario Pantano

Threshold Editions, 2006. 416 pages. . $26.00. ISBN:1416524266.

Warlord is a must read for anyone following the Iraq war. Its the true story of New York Citys own son, Marine 2nd Lt. Ilario Pantano.

On September 11, 2001 Pantano, former Marine sniper veteran of the Gulf War, was heading to a meeting for his newly launched Media Consulting company in Manhattan when the World Trade Center was attacked.

Pantano knew exactly what he was going to do, he would re-enter the Marines this time as an officer. Pantano left his comfortable life, family and friends to lead his Marines in combat in Iraqs Al-anbar province, the Triangle of Death. Following a shooting incident in Iraq hes removed from his platoon and charged by the Marine Corps with Murder.

This is his story, hes a true hero, the book is exciting and Lt. Pantano educates the reader into why things have gone the way they have in Iraq. The story highlights the negative impact the Main Stream Media has played in the execution of Operation Iraqi Freedom, and how we as Americans need to better support the men and women that we send into harms way. At all costs we, need to give our troops the benefit of the doubt, things arent always as they seem.
