Somalia: January 15, 2003

Archives

The situation across Somalia has deteriorated, due to rouge militiamen attacking and robbing convoys or villages, as well as killing people. On the night of the 14th, unidentified gunmen attacked a bus on the Mogadishu-to-Baidoa road (one of the most dangerous in the nation) around 100km west of Mogadishu. The initial casualty toll is nine dead and over 15 wounded. The area was controlled by the Rahanwein Resistance Army (RRA) in the past but is currently disputed between two factions formed after the division of the RRA. - Adam Geibel
