First flight of world's largest land-based Bomber - First flight photo of the world's largest land-based bomber, the Army Air Forces B-36, built by the Consolidated-Vultee Aircraft Corporation. This plane has a wingspan of 230 feet and is 163 feet long. It is powered by 6 Pratt and Whitney 28 cylinder, pusher-type engines developing a total of 18,000 horsepower. Its bob-bay has a volume equal to that of four railroad freight cars. The AAF has announced that the B-36 could carry an atomic bomb to any inhabited region in the world and return home without refueling.
