Kahr Arms is now manufacturing new production M1911A1 .45-cal pistols for those who despair of finding an original for a reasonable price at a gun show. Called the M1911PKZ, it has a parkerized finish over a frame of 4140 steel and a slide of 4130 steel. The trigger is a little longer than the original military model, and the hammer is the wide style. The sights are a slight improvement (not enough of an improvement for those who replace the original sights with better ones on customized models). The pistol is designed for full metal jacket military ball ammunition and has difficulty loading some types of modern hollow-point ammo, but reports indicate flawless function with the intended ball ammo.--Stephen V Cole
