Canada has selected Boeing to upgrade its CF-18 fighter fleet. The $600 million project includes the ARC-20 Have Quick-II radio, APR-73 radar, APX-111 identification friend or foe system, ARC-210 digital communications, XN-8 mission computers, embedded global positioning navigation, and AYQ-9 stores management system. Four aircraft will be upgraded to test the system, after which the Canadian fleet will be upgraded on an assembly line basis starting in 2003.
